This Dog Is Not Right

 


The fluffy dog is just a little bit bonkers. We've had her for years now and she's still not always sure where she should go to the toilet. Whether it's the fact she spent the first few months of her life locked in a shed, or whether she's just lazy I'm not entirely sure. But I do know she's a pain. 

Her outlook, however, is permanently optimistic. You might wake up to a giant poo on the kitchen floor but she's so very pleased to see you that you quickly forget about it. I'm not sure how she manages it but I wish I had a bit more of her positivity in my attitude.

The Music Corridor

My old school got demolished yesterday. It's been rebuilt, all shiny and new with steel and cladding in lieu of plywood and asbestos. They even demolished the old part - Haggas Hall - which quite frankly should have been listed. This, however, is not the history I feel most sad to lose. No More Brexit

I'm all Brexitted out. It was a bad idea to start with and now I'm just sick of it. I think this is the general consensus among the population.  As a result I've come up with the following proposal. Proposal: creation of Brexit In The Bin Party. Main policy points: noone is allowed to mention Brexit again ever. As a result the party upon election will be renamed In The Bin Party. Other words that are banned are Remainers, Leavers, Remoaners, Brexshitters and any other derivation of. All policies on international economics to be decided by actual experts in the field. Referendums are to be used solely for naming boats (Boaty McBoatface was a fine name for a boat), tv talent shows and Facebook "is this called a bread roll or a teacake?" memes. If experts decide financially we should stay in the EU we will take it seriously and vote for people in to change it how we want. No we don't want an EU army, we like our pound coins and we want to control our own ...

Directionless

Today I'm feeling sad. It's day three after the holidays, my house is still a mess and now I'm tired thanks to two children who have decided sleep isn't their thing. When I was at school I dreamed that I would have a fun and exciting career.  I was promised by teachers (and that lying arse Tony Blair) that if I got a student loan (I was the first year to have a loan instead of a grant) the world would be at my feet. Instead I'm a stay at home mum with a degree (and a post grad certificate) who has no recent experience so I'm effectively unemployable.  It doesn't help that I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up and my politics and history degree is not too handy for a northern former engineering town. I'm lost. I'm also rubbish at housework.  It's a thankless, endless task. A task that my family undoes the hard work of within minutes of getting home.
